Smite Gameplay Videos…
Welcome to the arena of the Gods, where the biggest names, from various mythologies, gather to see who is the most powerful. SMITE includes the Gods of Greek, Norse, Chinese, Hindu and Egyptian mythologies. As you may have noticed SMITE is a free game of the MOBA genre, ie the same genre as the League of Legends or Dota 2, but with one big difference in this game we control our avatar in the 3rd person view.
For those not familiar with this MOBA genre, this type of game typically consists of two teams of five players who can choose their avatar from an extensive range of options. There are typically three ways to reach the base of the opposing team, these paths are protected by towers and groups of NPCs warriors, that periodically traverse these paths. The objective is to destroy the opposing base, in Smite case is a giant Minotaur.
Returning to the unique SMITE perspective, this really adds a new twist in how the players perceive the game, removing all the usual viewing area around our avatar, that you get used to have in other MOBAs. We will find the same basic configuration maps, three paths to the oposing base and some jungle area too, but instead of their enemies hiding in the trees outside the fog of war, they may be right behind you without you realizing, and with a good ultimate ready to rock your world.
As in other games of this kind, once in the game we have to make some choices. There are several classes in Smite, to give each God a unique way to help the fight. We’ll have the usual combat ranged classes or melee, we have tanks, mages, support or assassins.
Tanks: Do you want to be able to endure a lot of damage and laugh in the face of the opponent? Then choose a tank and camp in front of a tower while the Gods of the opposing team try to dislodge you from that location. Note that at the beginning of the game such tactic is unwise.
Assassins: Would you rather give immense damage before? The Assassins are masters of physical damage, but attention what they gain in attack power, lose in defense.
Wizards: Do you prefer to stay further back in combat and punish the enemy with magic? If so, you’ll need a God of the mage class, that may be the missing piece in your team. But attention, mages are usually slower and can not handle too much damage, so keep your opponent at a distance.
Hunters: Combat ranged class that usualy uses bows or spears to attack at range with great single target damage, especially at later game phase.
Support: If you prefer to help your team with buffs and healing, you should choose one God of the support class.
As already mentioned, Smite is free, offers five Gods right from the beginning that we choose, and the rest can be unlocked in two ways. Through the game mechanics themselves, where as we gain new levels and gain favor from winning matches, we can unlock new Gods. Or we may unlock a certain God, using real cash.
